For the first time in its 71-year-history, the Miss New York pageant is taking place in one of the boroughs. Staten Island will take center stage Friday and Saturday at the historic St. George Theater.
The competition arrives after a two-year stint in Albany, following a couple of years on Long Island and more than two decades in Watertown.
The pageant and Staten Island are a perfect match, according to Miss New York executive director Kenny Mack.
“Staten Islanders have a lot of pride and patriotism and love of tradition,” he explains. “It’s what I refer to as ‘The little borough that can and the little borough that does.'” Continue reading …
