STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (May 30, 2019) – Members of the Staten Island Board of Realtors® (SIBOR) recently gathered with thousands of Realtors® and guests from across the nation in Washington, D.C.
While attending the 2019 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo, May 13 through 18, SIBOR members displayed their commitment to furthering their work with Congress and the administration.
President Donald J. Trump praised the industry as he addressed the conference May 17.
“When a young family needs room to grow; when a new job sparks a new adventure in a brand new, beautiful city; when parents want to find the right neighborhood and schools for their children, Americans put our trust in you — our great Realtors,” President Trump said.
While in Washington, the SIBOR contingent advocated to advance policy initiatives that strengthen the ability of Staten Islanders and all Americans to buy, invest, own and sell commercial and residential real estate.
The Island Realtors attended meetings and informational sessions, and met with regulatory agency staff and lawmakers on Capitol Hill to press for support of several critical legislative initiatives, including: Housing finance reform, national flood insurance program reauthorization, and housing affordability and accessibility.
The real estate professionals from Staten Island included SIBOR President Scott Setaro; SIBOR CEO Sandy Krueger; SIBOR Past President Dawn Carpenter, who additionally is a past president of the New York State Association of Realtors® (NYSAR); SIBOR Past President Sari Kingsley; SIBOR Past President George K. Wonica; SIBOR President-Elect Angelo Pappalardo; SIBOR Secretary/Treasurer Frank Rizzo, and Realtor Joe Tirone.
