BEWARE FINES
The federal government and state agencies are becoming more aggressive in implementing cybersecurity requirements for small businesses. The New York State Attorney General’s Office can impose injunctive relief and civil penalties of up to $5,000 per incident.
This affects all businesses serving New York state residents, including, but not limited to, start-ups and established businesses, such as not-for-profits, retail operations, wholesale enterprises, and those in service industries, such as tax practitioners, and others.
During the webinar, a template modeled under the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will be provided as a resource that may be utilized in businesses and practices.
EDUCATION CREDITS
The webinar is offered free of charge. However, for qualified attendees, two-hour CE/CPE credits are available for a nonrefundable $30 cost.
At registration, tax practitioners must provide their PTIN, and CPA’s must provide their CPA License Number. A certificate will only be issued to attendees after submitting an evaluation and sign-off at the end of the program.
