STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island business initiative launched in November 2010, and publicized by Relevant Public Relations LLC, most recently has drawn the attention of “Crain’s New York” magazine.

In a “Crain’s New York” article published this week, “Regulation overload on New York’s small businesses,” journalist Cara S. Trager mentions the “Stop Suffocating Small Business” rally, which was held in the Staten Island community of New Springville on Nov. 17.

Organized by the BUCKS Business Network group and members of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, the rally called for lawmakers to address the concerns of small businesses being smothered by excessive taxation and over-regulation by government agencies.

“How many more businesses have to close?” Staten Island-based business owner Scott Weisberg asked at the time of the rally.  

“How many more jobs have to be lost?” Questioned Weisberg, who operates Everything Entertainment, an event-production company.

The “Crain’s New York” article finds similar sentiments exist throughout the city.

“Real estate developers, retailers, restaurateurs and other small business owners increasingly moan about regulation and bureaucracy,” Ms. Trager writes in the “Crain’s New York” piece.

“Robert Cutrona, owner of Staten Island based Project-One-Services Inc., was interviewed for the “Crain’s New York” article.
