STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Island Board of REALTORS (SIBOR) was the principle sponsor for the PS 22 5th-grade graduation final assembly.
“Supporting education in our community is an initiative that Staten Island Realtors embraces which pride,” said Kathleen O’Leary Garbarino, president of the SIBOR. “The PS 22 administration, faculty and parents continually roll out the welcome mat for us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be involved.”
The graduation, which recently took place at the St George Theatre, celebrated over 200 students moving on to the next phase of their education.
PS 22 Chorus
Among the graduates of the Staten Island school are the now world-famous PS 22 Choir, which had performed at the Academy Awards Ceremony in Hollywood and on the Oprah Show.
Kiana Conyers, daughter of SIBOR Realtor Larry Conyers, was a graduating member of the chorus. The chorus performed numerous songs throughout the program.
Distinguished Graduate Honored
Also at the event, was SIBOR REALTOR and past director, Jon Salmon, who was honored as a Distinguished Graduate of PS 22.
Salmon spoke to the graduates about the importance — and satisfaction — of volunteering and helping others throughout their lives.
PS 22 has been selected by SIBOR as the adopted school for the 2011 “Pack to School” program; fueled by SIBOR member donations, the program seeks to provide every student in the school with a backpack filled with school supplies at the beginning of the school year in September.
