September 14, 2026Staten Island, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2026) – Prices of Staten Island homes are maintaining an upward climb, according to the latest housing report from the Staten Island Board of Realtors® (SIBOR).
Year-to-date, the borough’s median sales price increased 2.9 percent to $700,000; pending sales rose 0.6 percent; new listings declined 0.9 percent, and the Island’s 12-month-average housing inventory as of August remained steady, dropping a mere 0.1 percent when compared to the same period one year ago.

Based on the latest data, Island homes sold in a median of 76 days, a year-to-date increase of 3.8 percent.
“The latest data show a resilient Staten Island housing market, with home prices continuing to rise despite shifting market conditions,” said SIBOR CEO Sandy Krueger. “Limited inventory continues to support home values, while the increase in days on market suggests buyers are proceeding more deliberately and taking additional time to consider their options.”
NATIONAL TREND
U.S. existing-home sales edged down 1.7 percent from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.06 million units, according to the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). Regionally, sales increased in the Northeast, held steady in the West, and declined in the Midwest and South. On a year-over-year basis, sales rose in the Midwest and West while remaining flat in the Northeast and South.
Nationally, the median existing-home sales price climbed to $431,400, as inventory remained at a 4.6-month supply at the current sales pace, NAR reported. Year-to-date sales are up 2.4 percent, reflecting stable demand even amid elevated mortgage rates. Homes are sitting on the market longer and fewer buyers are bidding above asking price compared to a year earlier, though local market conditions vary widely.
