John Caltabiano will work to increase the influence of the only commercial bank headquartered on Staten Island.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — John Caltabiano, a Staten Island businessman and avid community volunteer, recently joined Victory State Bank as vice president of business development.
In his new role at the only commercial bank headquartered on Staten Island, Caltabiano will work to enhance Victory State’s community impact by continuing his role as a highly valued participant in local affairs and social-services organizations.
“John is a well-established member of the Staten Island community and is well-known to the professionals and business owners on the Island,” said Ralph M. Branca, president and CEO of Victory State Bank. “John brings a unique perspective to our bank, having worked in both the public and not-for-profit arenas. John is a welcome addition to our staff and he will be a valuable asset in our business-development strategy.”
DISTINGUISHED CAREER
Caltabiano’s long and distinguished career includes a wealth of experience, combining property operations, financial management, sales and marketing, strategic planning and risk management in both the hospitality and commercial real-estate industries.
“It is great being back in the private sector again, working for a wonderful organization such as Victory State Bank,” said Caltabiano, who in February concluded a seven-year stint as executive director of the Staten Island Zoo. “In a very short time, everyone here has made me feel right at home. I hope to bring an added dimension to the bank with the skills and experience I have developed over the past 30 odd years.”
Caltabiano had served earlier in the decade as hotel-division vice president for The Nicotra Group LLP, assisting in the development and management of the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomfield. In 1990, he and his wife, Patti, founded Calco Management Group LLC, Annadale, a marketing consulting firm, which continues to run under their direction.
TALENT FOR BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
“John has a talent for building and retaining business relationships,” said Joseph J. LiBassi, chairman of Victory State Bank. “This has been demonstrated by his history of accomplishments in the Staten Island business and nonprofit community.”
Caltabiano is president-elect of the South Shore Rotary Club; a past-president and board member of Rainbow’s Hope; an Executive Board member of the Staten Island Council, Boy Scouts of America, and a former director of the Miss Staten Island Scholarship Pageant.
He and his wife, Patti, reside in Annadale.
