The SIBOR Young Realtors Group raised nearly $4,000 at a fund-raiser to benefit the Volunteers of America’s Staten Island Early Learning Center, in Tottenville.

Many of the children who attend the school have significant developmental delays associated with autism, Down syndrome, attention deficit disorder and neurological and emotion issues. All the children receive intensive, individualized attention targeting their needs.

‘A GREAT CAUSE’

The seven-hour event, held last month at the Wild Goose Pub, West Brighton, included an outdoor barbeque, live entertainment, DJ and more.
“It was for such a great cause, and the wish list was very special,” said Realtor and SIBOR director [Traci Cangiano], who chaired the event.

DJ Vincent Niemiec of NV Entertainment provided a day of music, as did the band, Room 14 and its lead singer, John McCully. Partygoers additionally enjoyed karaoke provided by F2K Entertainment.

As a result of the fund-raiser, the Early Learning Center will receive a new shed/playhouse for its yard; a visit from Quiver Farm traveling zoo of Pennsburg, Pa., and caregiver-projects, such as a chick-hatchery and guinea pig.

“These children will be very busy in the upcoming months,” said Realtor Laura Dinten, co-chairperson. “The interaction with the animals not only helps their visual learning, but also is a part of the whole sensory integration in a developing child.”

In addition to Mrs. Cangiano and Mrs. Dinten, members of the fund-raising committee included SIBOR Young Realtor Group members Elizabeth Ameno, Rosalia Aniano, Renee Ciaffone-Bolusi, Jillian Gannon, Greg Diaz, Diaa Hanna, Paul Pipitone and Co-chair Greg Sokol.
