STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Staten Island business leader John J. Amodio has taken the helm as chairman of SCORE Staten Island.
The organization, dedicated to fostering a vibrant small-business community within Staten Island, provides cost-free mentoring and education to both aspiring and established entrepreneurs.
Amodio was appointed to the position during a recent general meeting of the organization, at which time a variety of posts were announced, including: Anthony DeFazio, honorary chairman; Samir (Sam) Farag, honorary chairman; Bartholomew Sharp, vice chairman; Frank Schiano, secretary, and Patricia Sturman, treasurer.
“SCORE Staten Island allows me to utilize my life and business experiences to help others in our business community,” Amodio said. “I’m both eager and humbled as I move forward in my new position as chairman.”
A certified SCORE mentor, certified business consultant, coach and trainer, Amodio is experienced in providing professional guidance and information to small businesses.
He has over 50 years of experience in financial services, management and marketing. Prior to Amodio’s retirement from the banking industry, he most recently had been a vice president with TD Bank, one of the 15 largest banks in the United States, where he was responsible for establishing lending and deposit relationships with businesses, particularly on Staten Island.
During his lengthy career, he had operated his own management consulting firm; had been president of a corporation that operates high-profile restaurants, and served as president and CEO of a community-oriented commercial bank. A certified public account, Amodio launched his career path working for a “Big Four” public accounting firm.
In addition to SCORE Staten Island, Amodio’s community service is extensive, including such activities as: Director and treasurer of Vision for Staten Island, Inc.; past chairman and president of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce; chairman of the Staten Island Rotary Foundation; senior member of the Rotary Club of Staten Island; director of the S.I. Community Fund; past president of the NYS Society of CPAs; past vice-chairman of Staten Island University Hospital; chairman of SCORE Advisory Council; adviser to the Small Business Development Center, and former chairman and director of Meal on Wheel of Staten Island.
